Diploma in Pharmacy is a two year course. In India, students can study this education course after successfully completing Standard Twelve in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or maths as subjects. The person who has completed D.Pharm can be employed as registered pharmacist in Hospital and Community pharmacies dispensing drugs and pharmaceuticals. It has been made mandatory that at least one person employed in a pharmacy must be a qualified registered pharmacist. After completion of D.Pharm, one should complete the respective pharmacy council registration to become a registered pharmacist. A D.Pharm holder can go for a professional degree (under graduate) course of B.Pharm in India via lateral entry scheme.

B.Pharm holders can work in several fields such as being a pharmacist, patient counseling, doing further studies such as master’s degree, working in a university as a lecturer, or working as a drug information specialist.

Eligibility – D.Pharm

D.Pharm (Diploma of Pharmacy) holders are eligible for admission into B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) after completing the degree D.Pharm with biology or both biology & math subjects.

Approval & Affiliation

Diploma of Pharmacy Two year diploma course approved by PCI and affiliated to Board of Technical Education, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Career Opportunities

Unlike other pharmacy-related courses, which have a greater focus on drug manufacturing, Pharma diploma provides a broad-based training – so students are more versatile. This will open doors to jobs in hospital or retail pharmacies, as well as the pharmaceutical industry. Those having Diploma qualification in Pharmacy can work as a Pharmacist in Govt. /Semi Govt. / Private Hospitals. They can also start their own Medical Store. Diploma in Pharmacy holders can work as a Medical Representative have a broad range of employment opportunities open to them. The job avenues for a diploma pharmacist are open in public and private sector. They are mostly absorbed by government hospitals and health care departments and sale promotion work in Pharmaceutical Companies. Desirous students on completion of D.Pharm, can opt B.Pharm Course.
